Christian James Royston Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Christian James Royston of Saint Louis Park, Minnesota, born in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 28, 2025 at the age of 26. He was predeceased by: his grandfathers, James Haugen and Bill Royston; his uncle Greg Haugen; and his great-grandparents, Jack, Goldie Royston, John, Margaret Eckrich, Albert, Martha Clark, Conrad and Alice Haugen.
He is survived by: his mother Christy Johnston; his father-in-law Todd Richards; his father Clint Royston; his stepmother Natalie Royston; his sister Jackie Royston; his girlfriend Gloria Youngbear; his grandmothers, Elaine Haugen and Irene Royston; his aunt Marie Haugen; his cousins, Martha, Genevieve and Brigitta Haugen; his aunt Wendy; his uncle Chad Berry; his cousins, Burke and Mardie Berry; and his stepgrandparents, Kenneth and Ernestine Steele.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 5th 2025 at 9:00 AM and on Friday, June 6th 2025 at 12:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, June 5th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St Pius X Catholic Church (3663 66th St, Urbandale, IA 50322). A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 6th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Polk City United Methodist Church (1421 W Broadway St, Polk City, IA 50226). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 6th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location. Following the pandemic, he returned to Iowa State to pursue his passion of becoming a sports journalist.
