It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Sutherland of Stillwater, Minnesota, who passed away on August 10, 2021, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Eric Sutherland and Vivian Sutherland Aakre; his sister Jeanne MacLean; and his granddaughter Grace Ryerse. He is survived by: his children, Kathy Lutes (Ron), Steve Sutherland (Peg) and Mary Ryerse (Mac); the mother of his children Karen Sutherland Bruning; his grandchildren, Jenni Fors (Dave), Steven Lutes (Shelley), Cara Lutes-Swenson (Austin), Izzy, Michael, Charlie Sutherland, Grant, Adam and Luke Ryerse; his great grandchildren, Greta, Malachi and Gabriel Lutes; and his brother David Sutherland. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
John could reliably be found on the sidelines and in the seats of his grandchildren's games and concerts, at the COVID-era drive-in worship services of Trinity Lutheran, and always had energy to socialize with friends, including through golf and tennis.
