Sonja Nelson Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sonja Nelson (Twin Valley, Minnesota), who passed away on September 12, 2020, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold Sirjord and Thora Sirjord (Svenby); her husband Floyd Nelson; and her siblings, Thelma Lindberg and Hiram Sirjord.
She is survived by: her children, Duane Nelson (Ginger) of Ada, MN, Sandra Haddeland (Pete), Thomas Nelson, Karen Radtke (Mark), Dale Nelson (Mary Kay), David Nelson (Janet) and James Nelson (Angie Anderson); her grandchildren, Paul (Cassie), Mark (Veronica Martinez), Jacob Nelson (Andrew Appello), Jesse, Joshua Haddeland (Nikki), Andrew, Katherine, Sarah Nelson, Jennifer Seaburg (Brandon Aabye), Teresa Ekren (Tyler), Michael (Alyssa), Nicholas (Cassidy), Jasmine (Riley), Zachary (Katherine Roberts), Sabrina Nelson, Abby Kinney (Andrew), Broderick, Riley, Myra Nelson, Cassidy, Greta and Sophie Nelson; her great grandchildren, Henrik, Halden, Hazel, Lyla, Noah, Laiken, Maverick Nelson, Lexi, Carletta Haddeland, Benjamin Seaburg and Wyatt Aabye; and her sisters, Altha Spaeth and Vivian Johnson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Following all Covid-19 safety protocols, social distancing will be practiced, and all must wear a mask to participate.
With her Alzheimer's diagnosis came many changes, first moving to the Assisted Living Center in Mahnomen and then Lilac Homes in Moorhead, where she resided for the last four years, and throughout it all she never lost her love of music.
