He was predeceased by: his parents, Anton Hovdestad and Olivia Hovdestad (Thompson); and his daughter Renda Adams-Hovdestad. He is survived by: his wife Wendy Salakka (Fleck); his children, Randall, Richard (Terri), Rhonda Millikan, Ronald, Aaron Salakka (Bobbi) and Trisha Scamehorn (Dan); and his brother Harold. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the recreation fund at the Veteran's Home.
