He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Oscar Schmitz and Agnes Schmitz; his wife Shirley Mae Sauter; his grandfather Wayne; his parents-in-law, Paul and Elsie Sauter; his children, Vicki Volby of St. Cloud, MN, Penny Rolf (Alan) of Cologne, MN, Scott Schmitz (Brenda) and Karen Erickson (Kevin) of Howard Lake, MN; his grandchildren, Steve Volby, Tina Volby, Jeff Rolf (Abbey), Brent Rolf (Tonya Dill), Ryan Schmitz (Stephanie), Jackie Nafus (John), Jessica Solberg (Zach), Megan Schmidt (Jarid), Tony Heisler (Andi Stemple), Stephanie Heisler and Kaylee Erickson (Mike Mooney); his siblings, Dennis Schmitz (Mary Jane), Steven Schmitz (Bonnie) and Phyllis Lemke (Howard); his brother-in-law Curtis Sauter (Brenda); and also, Max, Alexa Volby, Jackson, Elsie Rolf, Jaidyn Lundstrom, Alexia, Savannah, Amelia Nafus, McKinley, Carter Schmitz, Elijah, James Solberg and Kegan Ostvig. He was also cherished by many nieces, nephews and friends.
