He was predeceased by: his parents, Simon Popiel and Ida Huggler Popiel; and his sister-in-law Kay Popiel. He is survived by: his wife Sandra of Waseca; his children, Andrea Popiel of New York City and Jed Popiel (Jennifer); his grandsons, Rowan James Popiel of Richfield, Minnesota. and Rennan Simon Popiel of Richfield, Minnesota.; his siblings, Peter Popiel of Massena, NY and Kathy Parker (Robert) of Allegany, NY; and his siblings' children, Amy Ouimet, Brian, Jonathan and Michael Popiel. He is also survived by dogs and cats.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Bonaventure Fund at St. Bonaventure University.
