She was predeceased by: her parents, Jessie Carter and John Carter; and her siblings, Carl Carter, Joy Schneebeli, Russ Carter, David Carter and Ann Scheider.

She is survived by: her husband Bob Gardiner; her children, Denise (Tom Arthur) of Bloomington, IN and John (Jen Neff); her siblings, Pat Carter of Santa Monica, CA and John Carter (Barb) of Tucson, AZ.; and her caregivers, Charity, Taiylor, Mallorey, Adriann, Susie, Erin, Amber, Mae and Julia.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
