He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Charles, Reika Smidstra, Everett and Juel Jurrens; and his aunts and uncles, Albert Smidstra (Harriet), Bert Smidstra (Albertha), Jennie Vande Weerd (Jack), Suzie Kelderman (Hank), Jessie Wiersma (Harvey), Wilma Jean Jeffer and Donald Jurrens.
He is survived by: his parents, Ben Smidstra and Lylas Smidstra (Jurrens) of Luverne, MN; his pets, Skippy, Lucky and Rocky; his brother Charles Smidstra of Luverne, MN; his nephew Ben Smidstra of Luverne; his nieces, Christina Grijalva (Jose) of Luverne, Bethany Smidstra (Brandon Englert) of Rock Rapids, IA, Melissa Smidstra (Fady) of Michigan and Erin Smidstra (Jordan Jerke) of Albertville, MN; his uncle Joe Jeffer; and his aunt Delores Jurrens. He is also survived by 6 great nieces and 6 great nephews.
