He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Benson and Lorna Benson (Rydman); his former wife Joyce Allar; his daughter Amy; and his sister Mary Jo Nelson.

He is survived by: his wife Judy Johnson; his son Christopher; his siblings, Robert (Jane), Bill (Nancy) and Margaret Benson; and his brother-in-law Merv Nelson.

Burial will be held in the Worthington Cemetery. **In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are preferred to the Worthington Cemetery and the Nobles County Historical Society.
