She was predeceased by: her husband James; and her parents, Ulfert "Ole" and Vergal VanBriesen. She is survived by: her children, Brad Jenkins, Kristi Ekness (Jon) and Travis Jenkins (Heather Kimmes); her grandchildren, Tyler, Marissa Ekness, Shain Kimmes and Adriannah Jenkins; and her siblings, Janet VanBriesen and Arlys Hoffman (Charlie).

After graduation she went to Chicago, IL to work at the Arthritis Foundation.
