He was predeceased by: his parents, Welton "Shorty" and Ovella Stokes Scott; his children, Cathy Scott and Gene Scott; his grandson Cody Gilbert; and his siblings, J. W. Scott, Chester Scott, Arlie Scott, Opal Scott Parham and Almeda Scott Greer.
He is survived by: his wife Darlene Smith Scott; his children, Samuel Preston Scott Jr. of Blythe, California, Alisha Gallagher (Jim) of Lincoln City, Nyla Wilhelm (Rodney) of Alliance and Pamela Curse of Glasgow, Kentucky; and his siblings, Donald Scott (Marie) of East Prairie, Bennie Scott (Pat) of Glasgow, Kentucky, Doris Little (Martha Jackson) of East Prairie and Thirteen. He is also survived by Thirteen grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
