He was predeceased by : his parents, Marion Francis and Lillie Edith Wells (Gamble); and his siblings, Marion Wells, Lillie Souza, Hazel Green, Mary Gilmore, Bettie Fox and Cordelia Reed.

He is survived by : his brother Jim Knight; his wife Carol Jayne Schmidt; his daughter Robyn Eckhoff (Rob); his granddaughters, Kirstyn and Kalyn Eckhoff; and his sisters, June Gardner and Dorothy Vantellman (Sam). He is also survived by many extended family and dear friends.
