He was predeceased by : his parents, William Medde Brooks and Lettie Brooks (Shipp); his wife Alma Ilene Brooks (Sumpter); his daughter Dorothy Brooks; and his siblings, Beulah Harbison, Clifford Brooks, Calvin Brooks, Cletis "Pete" Brooks and Claude Brooks.
He is survived by : his daughter Dixie Meyer (Carl "Bill"); his sisters, Eula Sumpter and Pauline Thompson; and his grandchildren, Becky VanOstran (John), Pat Meyer (Stephanie) and James Meyer (Megan). He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; and many dear nieces, nephews and extended family.
