He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Artis and Willie Vinson (Butts); his nephew Jaworski Terrell; his brother-in-law Eugene Scott; and his father-in-law James Sykes.
He is survived by: his significant other Joy Sykes; his children, Crystal Vinson (Cantrell Andrews), Chelsea Vinson and Dennis L. Vinson, II; his granddaughter Kaiyah Joy Vinson of Cape Girardeau; his siblings, Ruby Terrell, Leon Vinson (Charlene), Charessa Scott, Toby Hemingway (Richard), Owens Vinson, Vickie Vinson and Bonita Grey (Mark); his siblings' children, Kendrick, Kyle, Tiffany, Shaunte, Richard II, Mark II, Jaier, Brittany, Ashlee, Jarrett and Timothy; and his godchildren, Richard II, Ajiana Hope, Ajinae Faith, Krystal, Aubrey Neal and Jazlyn Mackins. He is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews, a host of in-laws and other friends.
