He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter B. Schaefer and Jean B. Fredrick Schaefer; and his siblings, Mary Ann Schaefer, William Schaefer, Louise Schaefer and Helen Schaefer.
He is survived by: his wife Diane Schaefer of Cape Girardeau; his sons, Christopher Schaefer (Molly) and Oliver of Covington, Kentucky; and his siblings, Ken Schaefer (Kate) of Cape Girardeau, Joe Schaefer (Connie) of St. Peters, Jim Schaefer (Cindy) of Barnhart, Eddie Schaefer of Perryville, Karen Schaefer of Jackson and Theresa Ho (Dan) of Plainfield. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
