He was predeceased by: his father Alvin Frederick; his children, Christina Rene Hampton and James Alvin Hampton; and his siblings, Sandra Franklin, Penny Dorenbos and Larry Hampton.
He is survived by: his mother Gloria Jean Byrd Hampton of Sycamore, Illinois; his wife Betty Hampton of Cape Girardeau; his sons, Chris Hampton (Aimee) of Marble Hill, Missouri, Matt Hampton (Kate) of Jackson and Eric Hampton of Cape Girardeau; and his brothers, Rick Hampton of DeKalb, Illinois, Mike Hampton of Sycamore, Tom Hampton of Sunnyvale, California and David Hampton of Sycamore. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be given to Missouri Veterans Home.
