He was predeceased by: his parents, Ember Ellis and Chloe Ross Ellis; his wife Patsy; his son Andrew Dale "Tony"; and his siblings, James Ellis, Charles Ellis, Edward Ellis, Wilma Knight and Evelyn Freeman.
He is survived by: his children, Darren Ellis (Rhonda) of Cape and Gwen Schieffer (Elsworth) of Cape; his grandchildren, Stephanie Danger, Rachel Penny, Dennis Schieffer, Jason Schieffer, Andrew Ellis, Trevor Heisserer and Christin Heisserer; and his friend Thurs.
