He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Richmond Byron Payne and Margery McReynolds Payne; his wife Bettye Bain; and his children, Letty Thies (Scott), Rick Payne (Kim), Rich Payne (Holly), Larry Payne (Lori) and Susan Cook (Peter). He was also cherished by family members include 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
