He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Clarence H. Whisler, Sr. and Sadye Whisler (Young); his wife Mynatte Whisler; his brother Roy Whisler; his half-brother Jack Carson; his children, Stephen Whisler (Barbara) and Mary Layman (Russell); his half-sister Ann Overby; and his grandchildren, Mark Whisler, Suzanne Norman, Amanda Peck and Emily Leu. He was also cherished by eight great-grandchildren.
