He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James Mathews (Jim) and Billie "Burrow" DeVol; his spouse Delora Marie "Hudman" March; his children, Jesica Mathews, Reuben Garcia, Raymond Garcia, James C. Mathews and Jeremy Mathews; and his siblings, Crystal Mathews, Donald Mathews, Lance DeVol and Matt Mathews. He was also cherished by seventeen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
