He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Allen and Clarice Bertha "Hooker" Bruffett; his former wives, Doris Marilyn Watts and Pam Jones; his son Joe Bruffett; and his brother Dick Bruffett.
He is survived by: his wife Joanne Swango; his son Gene Bruffett, Jr. (Debbie) of Carthage; his brothers, Paul Bruffett of Jasper and Bob Bruffett (Susan) of Jasper; his granddaughter Chasie Stearnes (Kyle); his great grandchild Cooper Stearnes; and his stepchildren, Jennifer, Stacey, Scott and Kara. He is also survived by 13 step grandchildren.
