He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Mercy, Orean Whitmore, Effie and Ruban Gray; his mother-in-law Anna Lister Emerson; and his stepfather-in-law Kyle Emerson.

He is survived by: his wife Brenda Gray; his stepsons, Jonathan Martin of Marion, IL and Jeremy Martin of Mayfield, KY; his close friends, Sassy II and Cherokee Rose; and his aunt Dawn Partridge. He is also survived by eight grandsons.
