He was predeceased by: his parents, Ola Howard and Esther Elizabeth Bender (Gelhar); his wife Ruby Clarabelle; his son William D. Bender; his siblings, Robert, James, Charles, Harry, Florence, Margaret and Maxine; and his close friend Norma Joan McCrea.
He is survived by: his sons, Michael R. Bender of Jacksonville and Roger B. Bender (Sandra) of Alcester; and his grandchildren, Heather Jean Goodin, Carissa Maria Winchester and Christopher Michael Bender. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
