He was predeceased by : his parents, Theodore R. Johnson and Willeta Johnson (England); his wife Ella Rea Johnson; and his sons, Bobby Joe Mingo and Gary A. "Cat" Johnson.

He is survived by : his sons, Larry D. Johnson of Joplin and Teddy R. Johnson (Barbara) of Joplin. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
