She was predeceased by: her husbands, Roy H. Atkins and William D. Shannon; and her siblings, Vera H. Salley Grissam (Jack) and John G. Salley. She is survived by: her children, Susan Johnston and John H. Atkins (Holley); her daughter-in-law Elena Atkins; and her half-sister Shirley D. Salley. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren.
