He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Claypool and Minnie Claypool (Neff); and his stepson Mike Conner. He is survived by: his wife Marcy McNabb; his children, Paul Allen Claypool, Roger Claypool, Diane Decker and Michele Carroll; and his sister Ruth Sturdevant of Fullerton, CA. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Hamilton Church of Christ in Paul's memory.
