He was predeceased by : his parents, William Franklin Mackie and Juanita Jane Mackie (Richardson); his sister Sharon James; and his sister-in-law Juliet Mackie. He is survived by : his wife Beverly Mackie (Griffel); his children, Kaylene Bird of Blue Springs, MO, Janet Evert (Tim) of Warrensburg, MO and Billy Mackie Jr. of Higginsville; and his brother Jack Mackie of Blue Springs.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lafayette County Cancer Coalition or Higginsville Senior Center.
