He was predeceased by: his wife Roberta; and his siblings, Kenneth Gus Kilgore, Helen Kruse and Shirley Gray. He is survived by: his children, Sherman Kilgore, Pearl Kilgore (Casey), Cathy Vaughn (Mike) and Carrie Kilgore. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Gerald stayed with Sears and Roebuck for over 40 years before taking an early retirement to lovingly care for Roberta, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
