He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert P. Tait and Lucille Tait (Mueller). He is survived by: his wife Jan Tait; his children, Dr. Rob Tait (Faye) of Lee's Summit, MO, Margo Conard of Independence, MO and Becky Workman of Independence, MO; his brother Rowland Tait (Donna) of St. Louis, MO; and his grandchildren, Janea Robinson, Eric Conard, William Workman, Robert Tait Jr., Christopher Tait, Andrew Tait and Gloria Tait. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren; and a plethora of stray cats.
