It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ruth Jones (Independence, Missouri), who passed away on July 22, 2025, at the age of 101, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her father William Abernathey; her stepmother Ester Abernathey; her brothers, Norman Abernathey (Gladys), Eugene Abernathey, Duane Abernathey and Robert Abernathey; her half-brothers, Larry, Doug and David Abernathey; and her brother-in-law Lloyd Undlin (Henry Luther) of Buckner.
She is survived by: her children, Irene Johnson of Kansas City and Larry Allen of Kansas City; her brother Donald Abernathey (Millie); her half-sister Patrica Hanson (Sonny); her stepsister Margaret Undlin; her sister-in-law Roma Abernathey; her grandchildren, Cindy Long (Ron) and Klint Allen; her great grandchildren, Krystal Hughes (Shawn), Hannah Meese and Dylan Long; and her great great grandchildren, Tessa, Kinsley, Landen, Greyson, Huntley, Braxtin and Oaklee.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Carson-Speaks Chapel (1501 W Lexington Ave, Independence, MO 64052). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Mound Grove Cemetery (1818 N River Blvd, Independence, MO 64050).
