She was predeceased by: her parents, Marie Steffens (Nienhueser) and Adolph Steffens; her husband Aurelius N. "Ray" Krause; her granddaughter Jennifer Carr (Smith); and her sons-in-law, Robert Dwyer and Charles Smith, Jr. (Nick).

She is survived by: her children, Patricia Ann Dwyer, Betty Lou Connett (David), Diana Lynn Smith and Terry Ray Krause; her grandchildren, Carl Connett, Jeffery Smith (Dana), Leanna Dwyer (Justin Brogden), Kasandra Smith (Mike) and Abby Krause; her great grandchildren, Jacob, Joseph, Susanna, Rebecca Connett, Chyenne Dwyer, Sierra and Robert Schwartz; and her great great grandchildren, Isabella Templeton and Mina Smith.

Memorial contributions may be made in in Viola's name to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
