He was predeceased by : his parents, Arthur E. Byrne and Eva B. Elmore Byrne; his son Jeremy Michael Byrne; his brothers, Harry L. Whiteside, Sr., Donald Byrne and Patrick Byrne; and his aunt Dorothy Holland.

He is survived by : his spouse Pamela L. Hammel; his daughter Jessica L. Byrne of Keokuk; his grandchildren, Drake Michael D. Virgil and Keira Halliburton; his sister-in-law Kathy Palmer (Jerry) of Keokuk; his niece Cyndee Bachman-Stephens of The Colony, TX; and his nephews, Harry Whiteside, Jr. of Fairbanks, IA and Tony Whiteside.
