He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Hesse and Virginia Hesse (Henke); and his wife Patricia Stratton. He is survived by: his children, Chris Hesse (Allison) and Kathy Hesse Driggs (Mark); his grandchildren, James Spencer Hesse, Townsend Driggs, Tricia Driggs and Abbey Siburt; and his brothers-in-law, Robert Stratton (Pam) and Mike Stratton (Dee).

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
