He was predeceased by: his parents, Victor Briegel and Marie McCarty Briegel; his brother David Briegel; his parents-in-law, Eugene and Virginia Gear; his son-in-law Kris Kennard; his siblings-in-law, James Leeper, Michael Gear and Rosamond Briegel; and his niece Jeanne Tawney.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Gear Briegel; his children, Brantley Briegel (Rhonda Charboneau) and Linda Kennard (Jim Bracken); his grandchildren, Clayton Briegel (Rebekah Perkins) and Rhianne Briegel; his great grandchildren, Gunnar Briegel and Wylder Briegel; his siblings, Connie Wright (Michael Wright), Janice Beavers and Charles Briegel; and his sister-in-law Marilyn Leeper Whitacre. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
