He was predeceased by: his parents, Forest Ray and Essie; his wife Betty; his son Donald Wayne Harrell; and his sister Fern Baur.

He is survived by: his children, Betty Luise Agan, Arla Ray Harrell, Beverly Jane Howe and Patricia Nadine Ayers; and his siblings, Elsie Blanche Applegate, Inez Gertrude Ray and Forest Harrell. He is also survived by grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren.
