He was predeceased by: his parents, Boyd Deierling and Lula Grace Deierling (Jackson); his spouse Dana J. Meyer; his sister Marguerite; and his brother-in-law David Bates.

He is survived by: his goddaughter Christina Danae Green of Marceline, MO; his nephew Larry Bates (Lynda) of Des Moines, IA; his great-nephew Eric Bates; his great-niece Kayla Bates of Des Moines, IA; and his close friend Gladys Moore of Moberly, MO.. He is also survived by other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
