He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Bonnie Modak Sawyer; his children, Robert Sawyer (Katherine) of Wake Forest and Alison Sawyer (Chad Higgins) of Boone; his sister Patricia Yancey (David) of Murphy; and his grandchildren, Frederick, Jonathan, Henry and Thomas Sawyer.
