He was predeceased by : his father Larry Lee; his siblings, Marie Cantrell, Mary Ann Kessner and Gary Coe; his grandson Lukas Whaley; his great-nephew Jaxon Smith; and his grandfather Pete Blasengym.

He is survived by : his mother Marynell Modlin (Blasengym); his wife Kathy Anne Baker; his children, Curtis Madden (Amy) of Overland Park, KS, Crystal Modlin of Harwood, MO and Michael Baker (Dena) of Walker, MO; his siblings, Vicki Jo Smith (Marion) of Osborn, MO, Leslie Roberts (Terry), Kathy Case (Duane) of Independence, MO, Donna Wallace, Lorie Smith, Suzanna Coonts (Jerry), El Dorado Springs, William Modlin (Kristie) and Paul Modlin (Angie) of Moundville, MO; his brother-in-law Terry Kessner; and his close friend Gene Burchell (Vonnie). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
