He was predeceased by : his parents, Ralph Schmutz and Phyllis Schmutz; his wife Marsha Schmutz; and his siblings, Dale, Pete Schmutz, Bev Schmutz and Dot White.

He is survived by : his sons, Shad Schmutz (Sarah Fender) and Nathan Schmutz (Carrie); and his grandsons, Brandon Frye, Garrett Schmutz, Connor Schmutz and Evan Schmutz.
