He was loved and cherished by many people including: his sons, Mark E. Kirby and Mike S. Kirby (Karen); his granddaughter Katie Dethrow (Billy); and his great grandchild Connor Michael Dethrow.

Age 86, scholar athlete for the Central Methodist College Eagle's basketball team during 1950-1954 has succumbed after a long struggle into the darkness of Alzheimer's disease.
