He was predeceased by: his father Ira Walter Monroe; and his nephew Shawn P. Cannon. He is survived by: his mother Audrey Monroe; his sisters, Pamela Cannon and Nancy Riddel (Allan); and his siblings' children, Kristina Foster (Eric), April McPherson-Anderson (James), Jesse Cannon (Jessica), Elise (Jeremy), Heather McPherson (Sara), Michaela Brune (Nicholas) and Luka Riddel.
