She was predeceased by : her parents, Robert and Rosina Kern (Weinmann); and her siblings, Else and Robert. She is survived by : her children, Robert Shipley (Sylvia) of Lacey, WA, Angela Bennett (Doug) of Lecompton, KS, Jim Shipley (Melissa) of Smithville, MO, Cristine Shipley of Lawrence, KS and George Shipley of Plant City, FL; her close friend Dean Hicks; her siblings, Lore Thomas (Dieter) of Germany, Doris Fischer of Germany and Erika Rebentrost (Günther) of Germany; her grandchildren, Aaron, Kirsten, Jon, Nick, Madi, Joshua, Brandon, Nic and Reese; and her great grandchildren, Rowan and Arli. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Agape Impact Ministries, The Mango Home, (a ministry founded by her granddaughter that serves teenage girls in the Philippines) in care of the funeral home.
