He was predeceased by: his father James Henry Wallace; and his siblings, James P. Earl and Sonya Webb. He is survived by: his mother Queen Langford (Brown); his wife Carol Lynn Brown (Harris); his children, Jessica Tripplet, Carollynn Harris, Demetrius Brown, Derric Watson, Zachary Brown, Justin Brown, Virgil Brown III and Zakalyn Byers; and his siblings, Jerome Webb, Carlos Wallace, Steven Arrington, Linda Brown and Sheila Wallace. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews.
