He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Whitlow and Nellie Whitlow (Mercer); and his siblings, Dorothy Hickam, Lois Cramer, Donald Whitlow and H. C. Whitlow.
He is survived by: his wife Velva Ann Whitlow (Campbell); his children, Christy (Steve Jordan) of Republic and Clayton (Julie) of Marionville; his granddaughters, Ashley (Jeremy Flores) and Racheal Thompson (Brian Simpson); his great grandchild Maple Flores; his sisters, Jean Link, Kathryn Ross, Laura Hamilton (Howard) and Marilyn Franz (Calvin); and his sisters-in-law, Jan Whitlow, Rosella Fowler and Flossie Kincannon. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
