He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Ray and Lois Elaine Long (Gardner); and his daughter Caitlin Long. He is survived by: his wife Laura Lee Mieswinkel; his sons, Matthew Long (Jackie) of Diggins and Jacob Long of Washington, DC; his grandson Levi Long; his siblings, Debra Rodriguez of Tampa, Eva Landes (Brett) of Roeland Park, Kansas, Herb Long (Mary) of Springfield and Walter Long (Michel) of Pensacola, Florida; his sister-in-law Mary Ellen Moore (Terry) of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; and his parents-in-law, Larry Mieswinkel of Wentworth, Missouri and Roberta Mieswinkel of Mt. Vernon. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be payable to any veteran's organization, in care of the funeral home.
