He was predeceased by: his child Jeanette Strasser; and his sibling Joseph. He is survived by: his spouse Phyllis Strasser; his children, Austin Jr., Stephen, Phillip and Rhonda Wheeler; his grandchildren, Kelsie Hudd, Kayla Strasser and Anthony Strasser; and his siblings, Carl (Mary), Willard (Judy), Michael Strasser and Suzanne Lane (Mike).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
