He was predeceased by: his wife Nancy Jeanette Ryan; his son Matthew Hoffman; and his siblings, Marian Donovan (late George), Dolores Wilson (late Jack), John Hoffman (late Doris), Richard Hoffman (Pauline) and Thomas Hoffman (Carolyn).
He is survived by: his daughters, Elizabeth "Beth" Ann Hill (Bill) and Ellen Rose Rechtien (Jay); his grandchildren, Laura Baum (Kevin), Drew Hill, Ryan Rechtien and Sean Rechtien; his great grandchildren, Lily Baum and Norah Baum; and his siblings, Charles Hoffman (late Juanita), Robert Hoffman (Geri), Leroy Hoffman (Kay) and Lorraine Freesmeier (late Charlie).
