He was predeceased by: his parents, Verna M. and Eugene S. Boettler, Jr.; and his siblings, Thomas "Gary" Boettler, James "Jim" Boettler and Don Boettler.
He is survived by: his wife Catherine Boettler; his children, Lynn Boettler (Laura), Ellen Bornhop (John) and Karen Boettler; his grandchildren, Jacob Bornhop (Christa), Luke Bornhop (Allison), Lily Bornhop, Hunter Bornhop, Caleb Heilmann, Claire Heilmann, Riley Boettler and River Boettler; and his great grandchild Piper Bornhop.

Memorials may be made in Eugene's name to St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Robert Church.
