He was predeceased by: his parents, Thurman Shields and Violet Shields; his son Jack "JJ" Shields, Jr.; his grandchild Kim; and his brother Tom Shields (Alice).
He is survived by: his wife Arletta Shields; his daughters, Jeanne Gach, Vicki Lenssen (Randall) and Sandra Skinner; and his grandchildren, Shawn, Wendrew, Melanie and Jennifer.
