She was predeceased by: her parents, Marion Jefferson and Marie Crim; and her son Jeff Hawkins. She is survived by: her spouse Dale Hawkins; her children, Kathie Poeling (late Kevin) and Kelly Hess; her granddaughter Crystal Murphy (Jeff); and her siblings, Fred Jefferson and Jerry Jefferson. She is also survived by grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, and 6 great-great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Joan's name to the American Cancer Society.
